Within Chronicle, you can assign a 'premium' to a shift. This will allow you to pay your employees more based on a specific shift.
To assign a shift premium, you would first need to create an 'Exceptional Item'.
Creating the Exceptional Item
1. Access the settings via the cog in the top right corner
2. Select 'Employees' on the left-hand side, then 'Exceptional Item Types'.
3. Select the green '+' and enter the required details
- Name: This would be the name of the premium, for example 'Shift Premium x50'
- Description: Can be anything to describe the premium
- Payroll Category: This will display on reports in the specified category
- Sequence: This will be the order in which it displays
4. Click 'Create' when finished.
Applying the shift premium
1. Select 'Shifts and Rosters' on the left-hand side within the settings, then 'Shifts'.
2. Locate or create the shift you are looking to have the premium applied and navigate to the 'Shift Premium' tab.
3. Tick 'Apply shift premium'.
4. Select the 'Exceptional Item Type' you created previously.
5. Enter the 'Percentage' as the amount defined in the item type - For example 50.00 making it 1.5x.
6. Tick 'Apply only to basic' if this applies to only the 'Basic/Contracted' hours of the shift.
7. Then click 'Save'.
When the employee clocks in and is assigned to the shift with the premium on, it will display on the work record under 'Exceptional Items'
*The employee would require an 'Hourly Rate' for this to appear.
