Point rounding is used to 'round' clock records to specified increments or "Points". It is configured within the shift in the system set up section. This is found within the settings of the Chronicle environment within 'Shifts & Rosters' then 'Shifts'.
Double-click on a shift and navigate to 'Point Rounding'.
These rules are distinct and separate to Zoned Rounding, more information about this can be found here.
Terminology
- Penalty: This is the nearest "time increment" that it will be rounded to.
- Grace Period: This is how "late" the employee can be without the penalty coming into effect.
- Clock IN, Start/End Break, Change Activity & Clock Out: This is the action that the grace period and penalty will go against.
Using the above screenshot as an example, this will mean that when the employee has a start time of 08:00. The employee then clocks in at 08:01. As the grace period is 00:05 this will take the employee's clock and round it to 08:00.
Another example of this would be that the employee has a start time of 08:00. The employee then clocks in at 08:05. As this is outside of the 00:05 grace period, it will round the employees clock-in to 08:15 as per the 'penalty'.
Please note: You can define a grace period without a penalty, however you cannot have a penalty without a grace period.
