In Chronicle, you may need to set-up some breaks against your shift(s), this can be done with the steps below:
1. Go to settings and navigate to 'Shifts & Rosters' then 'Shifts'.
2. Double click on a shift that needs to have a break set up.
3. After opening the shift navigate to the breaks tab.
4. Click the green plus to add in a new break against the shift.
This will give you the 'create shift break' popup so that you can create the break.
5. Using the 1st drop-down select the break type (paid or unpaid.)
6. Fill the duration field with how long the break will be.
7. Next, you will need to fill out the start and end times of the break, this field means the times that an employee could clock their break, for example, 12:00-12:45.
8. Fill the default start and end times with the same as the start and end - the default start and end times are what the system uses to automatically insert a break into shift if you are amending a work record or if you would not like employees to clock breaks.
9. Select whether the break is flexible - if a break is flexible an employee can clock on to the break at any time between the start and end that was set.
10. Select whether the break is mandatory - if a break is mandatory it means an employee must clock their break, and if they do not the break will be applied to their work record. If selecting mandatory, a 'Default Start/End' is required.
11. Select whether the break is contracted - if a break is contracted it means that the break will count towards contracted hours - making it a paid break.
12. Select whether the break's length should be increased to the duration, for example, if the break is supposed to be 30 min and the employee only took 25 min, the duration will be set to 30min.
13. Select whether the break can be created from clock out - if a break can be created from clock out it means that the system will automatically insert the break into the work record of an employee when they clock out of work at the end of the day.
It should be only used while using the terminals that don't have START/END BREAK buttons (IT11 & PAYmate).
14. Once completed all of these fields you will be able to save the break against the shift by clicking the create button.
Now the break is created you will be able to see this under the breaks tab in the shifts settings.
