Shifts are an important part of your Chronicle environment. You can create as many shifts as necessary to then assign to rosters or schedule on an adhoc basis.
To create a shift, you'd first need to access the settings via the cog in the top-right corner, then, 'Shifts & Rosters' then 'Shifts'.
To create a new shift, simply select the green + button.
There is various options within the 'Details' page which can be used to customise your shift:
Code - This is the description seen in various other screens such as 'Live Data', 'Attendance', 'Rosters'. This should be simple and easy to read such as '09:00-17:00'. The maximum characters for the code is 15.
Name - This can be a little more descriptive than the code as it allows more than the 15 character limit.
Start/End - This would be where you'd define the start and end time of the shift.
Core Start/End
Contracted - The total number of hours expected to be worked on this shift.
Holiday - The number of hours that will be taken if a holiday is requested on this shift.
- 1st half & 2nd half are there to be defined if half day holidays are allowed to be booked.
Rest Day - This would be ticked if the shift is to be considered as a rest day/day off.
Omit from weekly overtime - Ticking this will mean this shift will not be included in within any weekly overtime rules applied to the roster.
Counts towards daily and weekly overtime - This would be ticked if overtime on this shift should raise daily, as well as be included to the weekly overtime rules.
Clawback - Ticking this will mean that if weekly overtime rules are in place and hours have not been worked, hours worked on this shift will make-up anything that was missed.
Lateness/Left Early Grace - This grace period is a defined amount of time that will prevent an exception from being raised for clocking in late, or clocking out early.
Must clock in between - This is the time that the employee much clock in between, any clocking's outside of these times will not create the work record.
Do not raise clocked out early exception
- If contracted hours are worked - The system will not raise an exception when the employee clocks out, providing the contracted hours have been worked.
- If absent - The system will not raise an exception when the employee clocks out if an absence is recorded on the work record.
Auto clock out after - This is the amount of time after the initial clock out that the system will automatically clock them out after. By default, this is set to 16 hours (even if it shows 00:00 in the box).
Hourly Rate - The hourly rate that applies to the shift.
Budget Tag - The budget tag is the tag that has an assigned budget plan against so that it'll be included within this plan.
Archived - Tick this to archive the shift so that it does not appear on any 'shift' drop-down menu.
